Driving in areas with strong winds.

This phenomenon is more intense in our country as it occurs more than the snowfall.

During periods of strong winds, many problems are created on the roads, which are often unpredictable and pose risks to road safety.

Like various branches broken by trees, various objects leaving yards and houses ,even trash that when they are on the road and fall on the vehicle except for the damage they will cause, the driver can easily panic and by maneuvering to avoid them will lose control of the vehicle.

To give some tips on how to behave with the vehicle when there are strong gusts of wind to avoid as much as we can naturally lose control of the car.

  • First let's say that we have to leave longer lateral distances to the side where the wind blows and hold the steering wheel firmly with both hands.
  • Our speed must be low and without abrupt accelerations.
  • When crossing open roads such as over bridges we must be very careful and apply the above.
  • When we get out of the tunnel easily with strong gusts at the exit we will have a problem, as we wrote in a previous article.
  • We avoid overtaking especially when it comes to large trucks, buses, or trains, because when we finish our vehicle will be hit hard by the wind.
  • It should also be taken into account that the driver of large vehicles is not easy to hold firmly in his lane.

In short, when the wind is strong, it can move the car from a few centimeters up to a few meters, depending on the speed we have, as if even if it is in the right place, it can even derail it.

The wind power can reach 40km / h. The best thing to do is to stop somewhere safe until it weakens.
